Ireland: Home Away From Home

We recently spent some wonderful time abroad exploring the beautiful country of Ireland, and we could not have asked for a better vacation. Ireland is a place that holds a special place in both of our hearts. It is a home away from home.

While any trip teaches lessons and allows for discoveries, this one awakened a realization in us both. Throughout our time in Ireland, we truly embraced the importance of being with family and taking the time in our busy schedules to stop, appreciate and respect all that our parents have done for us. This year, Paul’s mother will be 85 and Michael’s father will be 80 in July! It’s a big year for our families, and we were so happy to have made it out to Ireland to celebrate.

One afternoon, we enjoyed high tea at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. It was a wonderful tradition to experience with our lovely parents, shown above.

As interior designers, we manage to find design influences around every new corner, even at high tea! Traveling fuels us with inspiration, and we believe that is one of the many reasons we love to travel.

The vibrant blue color of this nineteenth century cottage, shown below, was absolutely remarkable! A wonderful design aspect that we look forward to incorporating into more of our work.

Ireland is a treat for the eyes with its rich green palette everywhere you turn. The designer in us loved exploring the gorgeous Bantry House Gardens and the beautiful countryside of the Emerald Isle. We returned from Ireland knowing that we will never look at green the same way again!

We feel so fortunate to call this breathtaking land a part of our heritage.
